FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Talk to our compliance team
How do NRIs, OCIs and foreign nationals invest through GIFT City?
You onboard them directly as the IFSC entity. KYC is completed to your policy under IFSCA’s framework, with overseas documents certified by licensed notaries through remote notarisation.
Can resident Indians invest?
Yes. Resident individuals invest under the Liberalised Remittance Scheme, within its limits and conditions. We verify them digitally using Indian identity documents, with no notarisation needed. The remittance itself flows from their domestic bank.
Can we onboard corporates, funds and trusts?
Yes. We collect constitutional documents, identify beneficial owners in line with IFSCA’s KYC requirements, and verify authorised signatories. Overseas entity documents are certified by licensed notaries through remote notarisation, and signatories execute through Digital Signature recognised under the IT Act 2000.
Can we onboard investors from the US or Canada?
Yes, where your policy permits. We capture FATCA and CRS self-certifications and the relevant tax forms for your reporting. You set eligibility by country and investor type, including any restrictions on US persons.
Is digital notarisation valid for an IFSC entity?
Yes. IFSCA recognised e-notarisation in its FAQs issued on June 19, 2026, and our notary partners are licensed in their own jurisdictions. We share the supporting documentation and full audit trail for your compliance team’s review.
Where does investor data reside?
All investor data is stored in India and encrypted in transit and at rest. We support your record-retention and audit obligations under IFSCA’s framework.
